The Museum der Moderne Salzburg will reopen on June 20, 2020! We have been waiting for this date for a long time and can hardly wait to be able to personally greet the museum guests in our two houses again! Since the museum closed on March 15, 2020, we have not been idle, but have planned the exhibitions for the coming years, initiated urgently needed renovations and maintenance on the museum building, and thought about the future of our museum.

Our understanding of normality will certainly be different after the Corona crisis than it was before. Let us agree that "higher, farther and faster" will probably not be among the guiding principles of the coming years. The Museum der Moderne Salzburg will also have to reorient itself in the post-corona world and have to rethink and accept the upcoming digital, economic and ecological challenges of a modern museum operation under the aftermath of a global crisis. I am confident that we will be able to create new and exciting ideas for our museum.

The fact that Not Vital's installation Das schlafende Haus will be able to lie down again after almost seven years of standing sleep is a hopeful sign. The daily motion of getting up and going to sleep of the installation will be part of the profile of our museum again from June 20th. A small start with hopefully a big impact. Because without sleep we cannot dream ...

The entire team of the museum is looking forward to your visit!
