The museum’s programming in 2022

2022—An overview of the exhibitions

The great challenges of our time, such as climate change, the Covid-19 crisis, the defense of democracy, global justice, and migration, are naturally also reflected in those museums that have a claim to contemporaneity. The Museum der Moderne Salzburg is aware of its responsibilities and has developed an exhibition program for 2022 addressing fundamental themes that are relevant and topical to both society and art.

“Our program for 2022 engages intensively with the foundations of visual media, their impact, and the construction of political and individual identities. In historical terms, the search for visual truth is not a task for art; but in times of fake news and the endangerment of democracy by anti-scientific thinking and political esotericism, the truthfulness of art can become a necessity. The self-critical saying ‘Don’t believe everything you think’ is surely good advice in these times, and the occasionally ironic role-playing and blueprints for the self that are part and parcel of the repertoire of art can certainly help us to achieve a multifaceted, contemplative view of the world.” director Thorsten Sadowsky explains the museum’s plans for 2022.
