DESCRIPTION:The Museum der Moderne Salzburg is pleased to invite you to the
  opening of the exhibition Irma Rafaela Toledo. Painting as Freedom Unfold
 ing.\n\nIrma Rafaela Toledo did not fulfill her wish to work as a painter 
 until after the Second World War. Born into a Jewish merchant family, she 
 survived by hiding in the mountains near Salzburg during the last two year
 s of the war. Working with limited means, she produced her first paintings
  from 1945 onward. In a nod to a nickname from her youth, she eventually a
 dopted the artist's name "Toledo." She was born Irma Friedman in Laufen, G
 ermany, in 1910, and died in Salzburg in 2002.\n\nAt the opening, Harald K
