The project Artistic Research – Experimenting with Collections engages with the collection and archive of the Generali Foundation as sites of artistic forms of knowledge. In a series of experimental proposals, artists who are Ph.D. candidates in the artistic doctoral program of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg will investigate how this knowledge can be made accessible in the present. Their focus is on artistic processes that see themselves as research. They will pursue a topical, critical approach to avantgardes, asking critical questions of categories such as value and conservation, and engaging with issues surrounding the conception and presentation of exhibitions. This project uses experimental artistic research methods to develop possibilities for a new way of reading the collection..
