Journal
a talk by Gregor Neuerer

Gregor Neuerer presents the extraordinary practices of his artistic research project “Learning from You”, which took him to New York, Poland and the Generali Foundation Study Center at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg in 2022/23. In his talk, Neuerer will provide insights into his daily written journal that accompanies his Situations (1—12), a series of collaborative encounters between a host, himself and an image.

„At the core is a set of encounters between various you and me and images I bring to your home or office. Each encounter is based on negotiations between teaching and learning, and creates ground for pedagogical experience. I keep a daily journal with notes on those encounters, make records of conversations, readings in experimental pedagogy, poetry, dance, and a documentation of the encounters between you and me and the image—asking myself how their physical presence creates both intimacy and knowledge?“ (Gregor Neuerer)

The talk will be in English with annotations in German.

Gregor Neuerer (*1970 in Innsbruck) is an artist living in Vienna, Salzburg and New York. He studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he studied design and sculpture, as well as in the free class with Isabelle Graw. Gregor Neuerer has been head of the photography and new media class at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2014.
