What is a location and what does it say about one's own position? Does it require a fixed point or even an anchor to be able to orient oneself? When we speak of positioning, we typically mean the determination of the current geographical location of an object or individual. But the attempt to define a position can be a much more complex and multifaceted process, involving reflections on the subject’s own values and where they stand in their life.

The exhibition showcases selections from seven oeuvres that scrutinize forms of positioning in space and time, complementing this geographical interest with an engagement with cultural, social, emotional, or ideological dimensions. Also raising questions about their own standpoint in the world and the interactions between individual identity and environment, the artists not only reflect on the ambivalence of places, they also probe questions of belonging, globalization, or personal perspective. In a world that never stops changing and in which identities and affiliations are often called in question, the seven oeuvres represent different approaches that address these concerns from various angles.
